DJ Jimmy Suave
One of Toronto’s most versatile and talented DJ; DJ Jimmy Suave was born on June 11 in Santa Ana, El Salvador. Shortly after moving to Toronto in 1992, Jimmy followed in his uncle’s footsteps (also a DJ) and assisted him to play while growing up. His love for music deepened and has become his second nature. To date, Jimmy has over 10 years of playing professionally. Within that time frame, he worked for many prominent DJ companies and is Co-Owner of Tremendous Sound Production and also attended Scratch Lab DJ Institute, one of Toronto’s DJ schools to further develop the art and complexities of the turntable. Currently, DJ Jimmy Suave plays in many of the GTA’s well known nightclubs and although he is mainly known as a Latin DJ, he also has an immense knowledge in all the different music genres while bringing new music to the table each time. Some of his work has been broadcast on national television, while on shows like “Rich Bride, Poor Bride” and has even appeared in international festivals such as the 2009 Salsa Congress and the 2010 Toronto Bachata Festival. Part of DJ Suave’s versatility, is being able to switch his mixing style according to audience and occasion. During nights, Jimmy takes care of the nightclub life, but during the day, Jimmy takes care of the corporate world. Year after year, Jimmy plays for many of the functions that large corporations host such as Metro, Sears, and Zellers. During the weekend, it is wedding season and club life all throughout the year. Furthermore, Jimmy has been a part of the University of Toronto ‐ Scarborough campus’ radio station hosting his own mix show and showcasing local artists. There he has hosted the majority of the pub nights that have been organized by the station. Jimmy has earned his reputation by “reading and connecting” with his audience which is why he caters specifically to their dancing desires. Furthermore, each time Jimmy plays, his years of experience reflect in his work as well as his appreciation for his clientele as he serves them with upmost professionalism and courtesy.
